This Privacy Policy explains how the Above 14th mobile app ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use it. By using the App, you agree to this policy.
What we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name (if you choose to share it) and email address.
- Location: with your permission, we use your device's approximate location to surface nearby spots and to verify proximity when you check in. Location is used in-session and is not stored on our servers as a continuous trail.
- Check-ins you create: the spot you checked in to, the date, your star rating, an optional written note, and an optional photo.
- Photos you upload: photos attached to check-ins are stored in our cloud storage and may be displayed on the spot's page so other users can see community photos.
- Usage data: we may collect crash logs and basic analytics events (e.g., screen views, check-in completion) to improve the App. We do not sell this data.
How we use it
- To operate core features (sign in, show nearby spots, record check-ins, award XP).
- To sync your progress across your devices.
- To improve the App's performance and reliability.
Where it lives
We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage) to store your account and content. Firebase is operated by Google LLC; its privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your check-in notes, ratings, and photos may be visible to other users of the App as part of public spot pages. Your email and full name are never shown to other users.
Your rights
- Delete your account: tap Profile → Delete Account inside the App. This permanently removes your account, check-ins, photos, and XP. This action cannot be undone.
- Withdraw location permission: at any time via iOS Settings → Above 14th → Location.

Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
